Job Purpose

Reporting to the Director of Base Maintenance, the Base Maintenance Manager will be Accountable for Leading and managing the day to day activities of Base Maintenance.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of base maintenance facilities as well as meeting all regulatory needs and reporting any deficiencies along with recovery plans to the Compliance Department and the Director of Base Maintenance.

Job Accountabilities

Regulatory and Budgetary Requirements

•    To ensure all relevant regulations are met.

•    To ensure procedures are developed, maintained, and reviewed ensuring compliance with all regulations and create a best practice environment.

•    To ensure all relevant directions, procedures and directives are controlled and correctly read and recorded.

•    Manage the Base Maintenance costs and revenues and ensure all expenditure is recorded and potential cost savings or potential overspends are brought to the attention of the Director of Base Maintenance.

•    To ensure all overtime claims are accurate and filed in a timely manner.

•    To ensure all non-conformities are responded to within laid down timelines.

•    To ensure a holistic learning is taught across your team in regards to best practices, non-conformance reviews and incident learnings from within and external to the company.

Base Maintenance

•    Ensure staffing levels and skills are sufficient to fulfil shift requirements

•    To ensure a good relationship is established and maintained between both Base Maintenance Facilities and strive for uniformity in working practices,

•    To develop, manage, understand and strive to improve KPI's.

•    To have a good over site of selected 3rd party suppliers

•    To ensure all responsible staff are regularly briefed and aware of their responsibilities and updates.

•    To initiate corrective or disciplinary action as required by HR guidelines

•    To ensure that all responsible staff’s qualifications are kept up to date.

•    To ensure all relevant staff are aware of all H & S obligations and responsibilities.

Communication

•    To ensure good communication is established and maintained across both facilities and interfacing departments.

•    To ensure meetings are established and maintained with your teams

•    To encourage open communication amongst all staff using all mediums available

Ad-hoc

•    To carry out tasks as required by the business

Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge

  • Aviation Experience is essential - minimum of 3 years in a leadership role

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent 

  • Strong communicator and people manager

  • Experience of working in a multi-faceted Business

  • 5 years in a base maintenance leadership role

  • Basic P+L knowledge

  • Excel, Word, Power Point 

  • Constructing, reviewing, and negotiating contracts

  • Team Leadership and Motivator

  • Organisational Skills

  • Negotiation skills
