Job Purpose

The Engineering Support Manager oversees the daily operations of the MRO Engineering Support department  This role involves managing and directing a multi-disciplined team, including Planning, Document Control, Aircraft Project Management, and Technical Services. The primary objective is to ensure seamless support for day-to-day production activities, optimising efficiency and maintaining high standards of operational performance.

Job Accountabilities

  • Team Leadership and Management:

  • Lead and manage a multi-disciplined team, responsible for overseeing the estimation, preparation, production and post-production phases of aircraft maintenance projects.

  • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment, encouraging professional growth and development within the team.

 Operational Oversight:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the MRO Engineering Support department to ensure efficient support of the Base Maintenance activities.

  • Monitor workflow and productivity, implementing improvements as necessary to meet production goals.

Project Management:

  • Coordinate and manage aircraft maintenance projects, ensuring timelines and budgets, are met.

  • Facilitate communication between departments to ensure smooth project execution and resolution of any issues.

Documentation and Compliance:

  • Ensure accurate and timely control of all technical documentation and records in compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry regulations and standards, ensuring departmental compliance.

 Planning and Scheduling:

  • Develop and oversee maintenance planning and scheduling processes to optimise resource utilisation and minimise downtime.

  • Collaborate with other departments to forecast maintenance needs and align resources accordingly.

 Performance Monitoring:

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the department to track efficiency, quality, and productivity.

  • Conduct regular performance reviews and implement corrective actions when necessary to achieve departmental objectives.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement within the team, encouraging innovative solutions and best practices.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Maintain effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, including clients and senior management.

  • Address and resolve any escalated issues or concerns promptly and professionally.

Qualification:

  • A recognised apprenticeship within the aircraft industry or engineering degree.

Experience/Knowledge

  • 5 years working in aircraft maintenance, production planning or airline environment; or project management with experience in a leadership role.

  • Experience with MRO IT software, such as AMOS, OASES, Rusada etc would be an advantage but not essential

  • Technical experience in aviation and able to demonstrate knowledge of airworthiness regulation

  • Have a working knowledge of Aircraft Maintenance Planning; and

  • High standard of English language (written and oral)

  • High standard of computer literacy, especially Microsoft Office Suite.
