Role:  Workshop Technician

Location:  Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire (RAF Wyton site)

Salary:  Up to £35,000 (Dependant on Experience)

Hours:  Full time

The role:

As a Workshop Technican, you will have a role that’s out of the ordinary. We wish to appoint a skilled Workshop Technician with expertise in metalwork and machine fabrication and this is an ideal opportunity to be part of a team that offers a great place to work within a stable company with a role that can be varied and interesting.

Day-to-day, you’ll operate and maintain lathes and milling machines to produce precision components according to specifications, as well as:

  • Utilize fabrication techniques to assemble, cut, and shape materials to meet project requirements. 

  • Maintain welding equipment and ensure a safe working environment. Perform welding tasks using various techniques (MIG, TIG, or ARC) to fabricate metal components, and inspect welded joints for accuracy and conformance to specifications.

  • Be the appointed Inventory holder for materials and tools.

  • Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and provide regular updates on project progress.

  • The ideal candidate should be proficient in the operation of lathes, milling machines, drills, and various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, and gas welding). This role involves not only the technical aspects of metalworking but also requires effective communication and collaboration with customers throughout the projects

Qualifications for the Workshop Technician:

  • Level 3 Award in Gas, Mig and Tig Welding with knowledge of the different welding techniques.

  • Full driving licence.

  • Normal colour perception graded as CP2

  • The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain SC Clearance.
